Hi Everyone

Midsummer is well past, September 23rd will see the Autumnal Equinox, when day time and night time will be equal (12 hours each). Let’s hope we have an Indian Summer to help Winter on it’s way.

Lots of ill health to report. Michael is still having much pain and discomfort with his Shingles and Robin very weary, as he waits for his double heart bypass (now not likely to be until late November). Brian (of Russ and Brian), is in Wolverhampton Hospital having had an operation to remove Gall Stones (the size of a small egg), and is awaiting further surgery. John (Tiverton) is awaiting an operation to remove cancer, having had tests and scans already. Keith (Exmouth) is still off work. The giddy spells are less frequent, but he is awaiting an appointment from the Neurologist at the end of October. Chris (Ilfracombe) is much better. Alan his partner is working harder than ever, and almost as old as me!! David Maker says that he is ok, we send our love, as we don’t see him at the meetings these days. Shaun has had recurring back problems, having worked so hard in the garden preparing for our Open Garden in aid of Hospice Care. £350 was raised, thanks to all our friends for all your support and help on the day. Without you the day would not have been such a success.

“Think too, of all who suffer

As if, you

Shared their pain”.

Hebrews 13:3 -

Jesus said: Come onto me and I will give you rest.

Buddha: Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Buddha: Search throughout the universe for someone more deserving your love and affection than you yourself, that person will not be found. You yourself, as much as anyone deserves your love and affection.

retirement which was the chief object of his desires on earth. Therefore, leaving his own country, he sailed off to France and chose a hermitage, first in the open deserts near the mouth of the river Rhône, afterwards nigh the River Gard, and lastly in a forest in the diocese of Nîmes.st. giles

He passed many years in this close solitude, using no other subsistence than wild herbs or roots, and water, conversing only with God, and living rather like an angel than a man, so perfectly was he disengaged from earthly cares. His historian relates that he was for some time nourished with the milk of a hind in the forest, and that a certain prince discovered him in hunting in those woods, by pursuing the chase of that hind to his hermitage, where the beast had sought for shelter at his feet. The reputation of the sanctity of his holy hermit was much increased by many miracles which he wrought.

St. Giles - 1st September

This Saint, whose name has been held in great veneration for several ages in France and England, is said to have been an Athenian by birth, and of noble extraction. His extraordinary piety and learning drew the admiration of the world in such a manner that it was impossible for him to enjoy in his own country that obscurity and retirement which was the chief object of his desires on earth.

We send good wishes, congratulations and love to Harry and Mac. They are well and looking forward to celebrating their 50 years together in September.
